Breakup Advice: No Contact Rule #2

by Sarah Creagh Horth on September 2, 2009

No contact Today we will look at more advice about how to go no contact. You’ve followed the breakup tips and sorted out how to prepare your home for no contact with your ex, now you need to think about your ex and your habits.

You may not feel like this – in fact you may not feel like doing anything at all!  Enlist some help, get a girlfriend over to start the Ex-Purge off.

So what do you need to do, to prepare your habits for no contact?

  1. Cut back to No Contact: that means only speak to (or even better, email) him about sorting out your property or if you have any, your kids.  I know he might have said “Call me,” during the break up speech, it doesn’t matter.
  2. If you have to talk to him – keep it business-like.  Do not have ‘heavy’ conversations.  He is not that person in your life any more.
  3. Remove him from your social networking sites and IM services.  Un-Facebook him.  Take him off your MySpace and Twitter accounts.  No contact means exactly that – no contact!  You do not need to see his status, whether his is online or any of his tweets.  You definitely do not need to see photos of him leaning all over some woman at a party.

Tomorrow I have a story about a friend who broke the no contact rule and didn’t take her ex off her Facebook page.  Subscribe here to the breakup bitch if you are interested in keeping updated.  Next week we’ll look at the no contact rule and your phone as well as stalking!

If you are struggling with going no contact with your ex, download the free chapter of my new ebook – The Smart Woman’s Breakup Book:  ‘Get Him Out of Your Life.’  It gives you lists and exercises to follow to get you prepared to go no contact – and you get to read real-life stories of women and men facing this challenge after a breakup.

Well, it’s a really right to cut contact with that person that you’ve just breaking up with because no matter what you say or may think, it is still very hurting at some point if you’ll continue have contacts.
