Breakup Song Lyrics: You Could Be Happy

by Sarah Creagh Horth on September 17, 2009

I’ve started looking for songs about breakups.  One breakup tip I recommend is to make your own DJ Downer Playlist when you have broken up, include songs that make you angry, sad or help you to pour out your frustration.  One of the ways we get over a relationship is to see other people’s interpretation of their breakups in their art – writing, songs, poetry, paintings.  It is a way we connect with a common human condition.

Snow Patrol’s song ‘You Could Be Happy’ is a beautiful small song, from their album Eyes Open – it is about thinking of the breakup after it happens with regret:

Do the things you’ve always wanted to
Without me there to hold you back; don’t think, just do.

More than anything I want to see you, girl

Take a glorious bite out of the whole world.

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing just a little study on that. And he actually bought me lunch because I found it for him smile So allow me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch!
