This is breakup tip number 4 from my friend A who recently survived her breakup:
#4 Work on accepting what has happened. Choose to accept that you just broke up. Choose to accept that you are single. Choose to accept that your life is not working out just as you had hoped or planned. Choose to accept that he is seeing someone else. Choose to accept the thing that is the hardest part of the breakup.
Sometimes I could only choose to accept being separated for about 15 minute intervals. To cope my mantra was ‘I choose to accept that I’m separated, I dont like it, but I do accept it’. It worked for me. (I got this from a website I think called – how to divorce as friends – it was useful).

Acceptance HAS been so helpful for me. Still raw moments, still times it hurts beyond belief that we are divorced, but accepting that it is reality and reminding myself that it is over and I am FREE has helped so much!
