I have been emailing with a friend who lives in another city about her breakup and the no contact rule.  She is well and truly over it now, but sent through some great tips that she thinks are important to get through a breakup.  She has a great way of explaining things and hopes that this will help you out there.  Many thanks to A.

Breakup Tip #1.

Absolutely initiate no contact.  Extremely difficult.  Your fingers will have magically started to dial his number as though they have a mind of their own.  You will find a million excuse to why you NEED to contact him.  DON’T DO IT!  Not once.  I had to have a plan to stop myself contacting him.  Start by waiting 15 minutes to re-consider if this is the best move.  Then ring a girlfriend and talk to her instead.  And then remember the rule – Don’t initiate contact.  (He won’t be happy to hear from you! If he’s really missing you he could also think of million excuse to contact you.  You just look like a stalker – desperate woman and that’s not attractive!).

If you are struggling with going no contact with your ex, download the free chapter of my new ebook – The Smart Woman’s Breakup Book:  ‘Get Him Out of Your Life.’  It gives you lists and exercises to follow to get you prepared to go no contact – and you get to read real-life stories of women and men facing this challenge after a breakup.
